About the Cruise Port of Civitavecchia
Civitavecchia is the name for both a town and sea port located approximately 80 kms north of Rome in. It's name means "old town" or "ancient town". This busy harbour is ancient, indeed – dating to the second century CE and attributed to the Ancient Roman Emperor Trajan. Today, Civitavecchia is often referred to as The Port of Rome and the Roma Cruise Terminal. It serves cruise ships for visitors to Rome but it is also a critical hub for commercial maritime traffic and ferries with connections to ports throughout the Mediterranean.
